Medical Staff & Medications
The Heartland Hockey Camp will be staffed with a full time nurse or EMT. All illnesses and injuries will be attended to by our medical staff. In those situations that require additional medical assistance, the campers will be taken to the Cuyuna Medical Center, conveniently located just six miles north of the Heartland Hockey Camp. At the time of registration, we will have a book that you should register any medical problems and medications. Our nurse will administer the medications at the appropriate times.
Supervision
Heartland Hockey Camp is a very secure and structured environment and we make camper safety our number one priority. Our mature, skilled, and enthusiastic staff provides superior supervision, with a four to one camper to counselor ratio. Our entire staff resides at the camp with the campers and each of our staff members are hand picked for their nurturing and caring people skills. To further ensure our campers safety and well-being, we have installed a new state-of-the-art video surveillance system. Our 20 cameras are strategically located throughout our 80 acre campus. This security feature allows our staff members the advantage of monitoring all camp activities 24 hours a day.
Student Requirements
Hockey camp students are required to bring their own protective equipment. Students should also bring a weeks supply of recreational and athletic clothing, towels and personal items. The Heartland Hockey Camp has a complete laundry facility. Campers are responsible for supplying their own bedding. Sleeping bags are preferred.
Check In and Check Out
Hockey camp students should arrive on Sunday, anytime between 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Check out is Friday afternoon from 4-7 p.m. There will be the final exhibition game on Friday afternoon. You can find your group schedule with game time at check in. Parents are allowed to come watch the final exhibition game.
Banking and Security
All campers will be offered the option of securing their spending money in our banking system. Campers will have the option of secured dorm rooms. There will be a refundable deposit of $5.00 for all keys to secured rooms. In addition, all campers will be provided with a private locker room storage area.
Recreation
The campers have adult-supervised options during their scheduled recreation times. These include swimming, water skiing, tubing, boating, canoeing, fishing, and other water sports at our private beach on Portage Lake, located directly adjacent to the Heartland Hockey Camp. Other adult-supervised options available during recreation time include field sports, roller hockey, weight lifting, golf, tennis and miniature golf. If your camper has a strong desire to play golf, tennis or fish, he/she should bring his/her clubs, racket or fishing pole.
Hockey Camp Fee and Deposit
A 50% deposit is required for each application. This deposit will reserve your selected camp. When we have received your application, we will immediately contact you by email, confirming your registration. There is no date deadline for camp registration. We will accept applications until the camps are full. Final balance due date, for applicants registering early, is April 1. Campers may apply to any open camps anytime after April 1 until each particular camp is full. There will be a late fee charge of $50.00 accessed to all second payments not received by April 1. There will be an additional late fee charge of $50 accessed to all payments not received by April 15. Your registration will be replaced by another camper after April 30. *There is a $100 fee to change camps. Please be thoughtful when selecting your camp option and date. *Applications will be accepted after April 1, for any camp, if space is available at the time. After April 1, the application must be accompanied by payments in full, however, there will be no late charge assessed.
Families registering more than one child will receive a $50.00 discount off the total of the children’s rates.
Cancellation Policy
We understand that things come up that prevent you from attending. No refunds will be given after April 1, or due to late arrival or early departure, or in the event that we are forced to cancel your camp or re-schedule your camp. Your deposit will be credited and applied to a future camp fee or upgraded lodging fee. For those campers who find it necessary to cancel before April 1, a full refund will be provided if the cancellation is made within 10 days of the original purchase date. After the 10 days, a 75% refund will be given. There will be no refunds for credits unused, also, no refund if a student is expelled, or does not attend or leaves on their own accord. Dorm Rooms
Our dorm rooms vary in size, as a result, each camper will have the opportunity to request his/her roommate. Please indicate your requested roommates on our application form, as this will assure you that your desires will be met. Our rooms can accommodate groups ranging from two to 10 campers. Please note that our Deluxe Dorms are an added fee and include ac and a mini fridge.
Extra Night Stay Overs
If it is more cost efficient and convenient for you, we will allow campers to come in a day early or stay over an extra day for a cost of $100.00/night. This fee will include lodging either Friday or Saturday night and meals will be provided. Extensive ice and recreational opportunities will be available. **This is for campers staying in regular dorms. Those wanting to stay an extra night in an upgraded lodging unit would pay the per night cost for the specific upgraded unit.
Travel and Transportation
Pricing is per person. Airport shuttle service for the Brainerd regional airport. Please fill out the form providing your travel info as soon as possible; Transportation Form
Please note all unaccompanied minors must fly into the Brainerd Regional Airport to be picked up by Heartland staff members.
Other options: Groome Transportation is a non-affiliated shuttle service that can pick up and drop off campers from the MSP airport directly to the main building of Heartland Hockey Camp. Parents can call Groome Transportation at (320) 316-0943 to schedule a custom pickup from MSP airport to Heartland Hockey Camp as well as a return pickup from Heartland Hockey Camp to the MSP airport. Price is $100 each way. You'll need to provide the camper’s name, age, and flight information. Campers 13 years old and over can ride. Campers under 13 years old would need a parent/guardian to ride with them or have the parents sign a minor release form. Heartland Hockey Camp is not affiliated with Groome Transportation and not responsible for any issues that may arrise with using their service. We are simply providing a resource to assist campers with getting to camp.
Cell Phone Policy
We have decided there will be NO CELL PHONES allowed on campus, unless someone is traveling alone or under some very unique circumstance. In this case, please email sandy@heartlandhockey.com and notify us. Once they arrive on campus, the cell phone will be turned in to the front desk for the entire week where it will be kept in our safe.
